Thanks for your response. I appreciate your kind words. College is definitly an illuminating experience in and of itself. And that's also true that most majors do have some writing involved so you will wind up learning to write no matter what.

I don't think you're nuts. (Unless you were talking about me?) To be honest I do appreciate your criticism it is fair. However part of what I gathered from your response above was that people self-isolate within like-minded groups to avoid criticism. Correct me if I'm wrong. I honestly don't think I do that and I do say thank you for your feedback 99% of the time in situations where I recieve feedback.

The only difference here is I was a little hurt to be honest. It's not like I'm opposed to feedback itself or being challenged. I always take criticism. But in my opinion there are places for it. In a creative writing workshop or when I submit something to an editor I'm expecting feedback so it hurts less. Obvioulsy, if someone comments a bunch of somewhat harsh feedback on my post out of nowhere I'm going to think, wow, my article was bad enough or had enough flaws that someone felt the need to express that unsolicited? It's not a great feeling. I do take criticism and feedback, I just felt yours was a little out of place and it made me doubt myself in a way that I didn't like and could honestly throw off my creativity and I just don''t need that.

That being said, I do appreciate the positive feedback you've given me.

Thanks.
